Prästgårdens islandshästar

Prästgårdens islandshästar is a company which aim to breed very high quality horses . Our goal is to breed horses with good temperament and to preserve the unique gates of the icelandic horse.

We want our horses to do well in breeding judgements but we also want them to be good competition horses and nice ridinghorses.

We are located at the farm Prästgården north of  Karlstad in Sweden, where we keep two first class stallions for breeding.
Þorvar frá Hólum  >>
Drómi frá Bakka  >>

In  Sweden we also have four first class mares. Two of them are now in breeding, Ör frá Prestsbakka, double Nordic Champion in  Tölt and Fourgates in 2008, and Hylling frá Gardabae. Hylling was the highest judged breeding mare in Sweden in 2004 and 2005 and she is also a very good competition horse in Fivegates.

We also have seminars and courses at the farm.  Twice a year the icelandic master Þórarinn Eymundsson gives seminars at Prästgården.

Prestsbaer

On Iceland our breeding name is Prestsbae. The mare we primary use for breeding on Iceland is Þóka frá Holum. Þoka won the breedingshow on Landsmot 2002 all categories. So far we are lucky to have four judged offsprings from her. Three of them are judged in first class and the most famous is Þóra frá Prestbae total 8.72. Þora has blup 132, the highest blup in the world of all icelandic horses in 2010.
Prestsbaer was nominated as " Breedingfarm of the year 20101 " . This is of course something that we are very proud of.

2011 will be a very exiting year and we look forward to Landsmot this summer.
